Final Italian Wine Class Rescheduled

Due to the pandemic, MiraCosta has postponed the final session of Italian Wine, Art, and Culture. The final class will be held at a date and time to be determined. The wines are safely stored in the temperature-controlled KutaSomm wine cellar. Looking forward to getting back to teaching very soon. I hope all of my students remain safe during these trying times.

Two New Somms in the house

Congratulations to Steve and Joe who successfully completed the rigorous course and examination to become Level 1 Introductory Sommeliers in the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas. You really earned that pin. I was there to celebrate literally hours after the results came in. Congratulations! Are you going for Level 2 next?

That’s a Wrap!

The MiraCosta class Old World vs. New World completed six sessions where everyone had a fantastic time comparing Old vs. New World wines. We even ended with a single blind tasting. Thanks to all who attended and a special thanks to those students that completed three of my MiraCosta classes and were recognized as Triple Crown winners. Enjoy the gift box!

Success at the Cardiff 101 Mixer

Success at the mid-week gathering of the Cardiff 101 Mainstreet Association Mixer. Three wines were tasted with commentary from KutaSomm, including the fantastic 2017 Mazévo Rose from the Encinitas-based wine operation Mazévo. Check out their wines at Seaside Market, The Roxy, and other locations in the North County Coastal area. Mazévo rocks!

Mazévo Wines Come to MiraCosta

Lindsey Combs and Jonathan Bave of Mazévo were guest speakers at MiraCosta College this week. A packed house learned all about this great new Encinitas-based wine operation. Fantastic job Lindsey and Jonathan!
